Welcome to my walking tours page!

Roman Forum

The best is to tour Rome by golf cart, but there are some places where you just can't drive, not even a golf cart:

the archaeological area of the Roman Forum-Palatine Hill-Colosseum and the Vatican (St. Peter's, Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museums).

If you want to see these places, you'll have to walk!

If you enjoy walking and you're not enticed by the golf cart tour, we would love to take you on a walking tour in the center of Rome and show you the Trevi Fountain, Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Steps), Pantheon and Piazza Navona and explore also all the interesting but less notorious sites on the way from one to another of the famous sites. We can meet you on the spot and walk with you or we can can arrange your transfer from your hotel to the site and back.

For the "central Rome tour" we can also come and meet you at your hotel if you're staying in one that's located in the city, otherwise we'll have to discuss where to meet.

We can also provide a wheel chair for the Vatican tour if you have mobility problems.

Walking the Vatican

Sistine Chapel

The Vatican tour - 3 hours

We will meet you at the entrance of the Vatican Museums and guide you through the following itinerary: Pigna Courtyard, Lapidaria Gallery , Belvedere Courtyard, Octagonal Courtyard, Pius-Clementine Museum, Candelabra Gallery, Gallery of Tapestries, Gallery of Maps, Raphael's Rooms and, at the end, the Sistine Chapel.

We'll walk directly into St. Peter's Basilica from the Sistine, saving time and a long walk back to the entrance through more museums and the walk around the outside of the Vatican City to get to St. Peter's Square where you would have to line up to go through the metal detectors and enter St. Peter's.

You'll spend about two hours between the Vatican Museums Sistine before you'll get to St. Peter's. Touring St. Peter's Basilica will require another hour and you'll see the famous Pietà by Michelangelo, the funeral monuments to the Popes who are buried in the Basilica, made by the most famous artists, the mosaics, the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, Bernini's Canopy,  St. Peter's Statue, the Peter's Throne and many other fantastic works of art.

The best time to visit the Vatican, because it's less crowded, is in the afternoon and the best days normally are Tuesday, and Thursday.
